Poem: Birthday cakes in the shape of B

birthday cake

Birthday cakes in the shape of B
Crates of Coke
And friends to see
Missing dad, and not knowing why
cuz when he was there
Tempers would fly

The Saturday night of alcohol brawls
Mum at the window
Where the ground below calls
Doors been slammed to deafen the blows
In the light of the day
The black and blue shows

Sunday morning and hidden away
I’m under the covers
A safe place to stay
My fear is losing the one rock of hope
Without her to love me
There’s no way to cope

Weigh my emotions but don’t let them show
The agony rages
Ready to blow
Shut in my room away from the storm
But feelings of guilt
Are leading me torn

Join me on the journey as I write my first memoir. I decided that the best way to absorb the memoir writing tips and techniques I've been learning, would be to write about them. So learn along with me, and together we can get this bloody book finally written!
